Why Do You Need a Premium Domain Name?

hero

Are you running a start-up? Do you plan to extend your business with new ventures? Or maybe you’re already a pretty big company and you’d like to start buying domains for your project. Either way, you need to ask:

Why do you need a premium domain name?

There was a time when you could make a crazy amount of money just by having a premium domain name with a mediocre website on it. You could easily rank number-one in search engines just based on your domain name. Well, that’s in the past now! Even if you have one of the best domains out there, you need a well-planned project to capitalize on it. If you’re having trouble maintaining your project or you provide bad service, the domain will mean almost nothing.

That said, there are two main reasons you would need a premium domain name:

1. Financial reasons

Physical and digital advertising and marketing costs are quite important for most projects. The most important job of advertising is simply getting attention to your service or product and making your brand memorable to users. Without a short, memorable, target-oriented “.com” domain name, you’ll have to spend more on advertising overall to bring people to your site. And the worst part? It never stops! You end up spending non-stop to make people remember your name and products. That doesn’t mean a premium domain will be the end of your advertising costs, but it’ll keep them lower and steady. Don’t forget that you only pay once for the domain name.

Have you ever researched television, radio, or billboard advertising prices?

“The cost of billboards in New York ranges from $3,000 to $20,000/month, and in Los Angeles, billboard costs range from $2,000 to $15,000/month. In Chicago, billboards’ cost ranges from $2,000 to $12,000; San Francisco billboards’ cost ranges from $2,000 to $12,000; and in Philadelphia billboards cost from $1,500 to $12,000/month...”

Considering that, is $25K really too much for a premium domain?

You should also consider that a premium domain is an asset. It’ll gain value as time goes by. Furthermore, you’re not the only one in the market. Your competitors are looking for premium domains as well. By purchasing a premium domain name, you’ll step up your business and keep your competitors from buying the domain. Two birds, one stone!

2. Psychological reasons

A premium domain name related to your service or product will give you credibility from the users’ perspective. You’ve seen lots of fancy product advertisements before, but how would you feel if one of those companies had a long and hard-to-remember domain name? Fear, insecurity – that’s what I’m talking about! Try to remember the websites you use on a daily basis: banks, social media, shopping, and so on. Almost all of them have a short, memorable, brandable or generic domain name. Even if you have a multi-million-dollar company, you need to protect your brand awareness and prestige! That’s why lots of big companies purchase premium domains. You can see some of them below:
